The Ranch Golf Club

Escape to the charm and landscape of Golf Heaven with an award winning course layout, superior conditions, relaxed and family friendly environment! The Ranch Golf Club was created on a wonderful historic piece of land. It’s a mixture of open meadows and woodlands, interspersed with beautiful water features to make each hole exciting and memorable.

The Ranch Golf Club is sited on a former country retreat of the Crane Paper Company, barons of the bond-paper industry and developers of cloth embedded stock that became a U.S. Treasury Standard for counterfeit-resistant currency. The course is laid out by course architect, Damien Pascuzzo, a California-based designer. The Ranch is a cerebral, sporty and tournament-worthy course that rumbles along the base of a north-south ridge, then spirals delightfully into wooded uplands. Pascuzzo’s visual style is nicely nuanced.

The distinction between his green fronts and the fairways leading up to them can be teasingly blurry. Bunker styling is is appropriately diverse throughout the course. One particular look – ragged and blowout-style on the far edge, smoothly finished on the near edge is in obvious favor. In general this is a pleasing design.

Quail Ridge Golf Club

The 9 hole course at Quail Ridge offers a peaceful, quiet setting which is a respite from life’s hectic surroundings. The strategic principles of golf design are found on each hole and players are forced to think about each shot. Instead of simply favoring long hitters, the course requires players to set up ensuing shots and favor one part of the fairway over another. Those brave enough to carry or hit close to a hazard on one shot, are rewarded with an easier shot to the next. As variety and beauty are what determines a course’s attributes, Quail Ridge has set itself apart. Each hole varies in distance and angle.

Some holes favor those who fade the ball, while others favor those who draw the ball. There is an equal balance of holes which require one to bounce the ball onto the green and ones which require a carry. The setting for these holes is one of natural beauty. Mature pines and hardwoods border each hole, lending each hole seclusion from its surroundings. The occasional outcropping of rock adds a rustic charm, while the many stone walls are a reminder of the history of the site and the toils of those who founded and farmed this land.

Quail Ridge is experienced in hosting leagues and corporate events and is the home of a junior golf program that played in the New England Championship after only two years.

Quail Ridge has tennis courts and also is the first course in Massachusetts to offer “Foot Golf.” It’s like playing golf with a #5 soccer ball and cups that are 21 inches in diameter. The way I putt they should use the same size cups on all golf courses. There is a pool and fitness center also available at Quail Ridge.
